Nowadays many scientist believe that they have finally managed the problem of food supply by introducing new genetically modified products which demonstrate high resistance to various deseases and bad climatic conditions. But is it really a way out?
To my mind, we should be cautious using genetical modification. First of all, there still is not enough data to tell whether it is dangerous or not to comsume such food. Secondly, we can not surely say what long-term consequences would be. Finally, many people have noticed that the taste of food has changed for worse.
However, there are people who have another point of view. They belive that genetics has created fruits and vegetables that are cheaper to grow, stronger and healthier. More than that, we do not have to use dangerous chemicals and firtilizers for growing such plants.
Nevertheless, I can not agree with that point of view. Buying cheap but dangerous products we can end up buying expensive medicine. By the way I can not help thinking that if such products are not eatable for insects they must be even more dangerous for people than all those chemicals we use in agriculture.
All in all, I consider that genetically modified products should be banned till we will be able to say definetly if they do not influence people health.
